'Out-of-this-world' wedding ceremonies

Couples planning an out-of-this-world wedding may be interested to know about a new service offering space ceremonies.

Japanese firm First Advantage and US aerospace company Rocketplane are giving couples the chance to fly 100 kilometres above the surface of the Earth and tie the knot.

Although the service is not available until 2011, reports the Daily Mail, people can sign up now at a cost of £1.1 million.

Included in the deal is a wedding dress, tickets for two guests and a party on the ground for friends and family with live video-streaming so they can see the ceremony.

Author Cindy Cashman told the newspaper that she had a premonition she would become the first person to be married in space and so set about finding a husband on the internet.

After finding Mitch Walling, the couple have booked to become the first pair on the new service.

However, there is currently a problem concerning the legality of the marriage as nobody has jurisdiction to confer recognition, the newspaper reports.

"It's a big deal to us that it's legal," said Ms Cashman. "This is history. This is the ultimate adventure."

Earlier this year, the Daily Mail reported that a couple had booked a trip to tie the knot on the first ever Virgin Galactic sub-orbital flight in 2009.ADNFCR-1185-ID-18663900-ADNFCR
