Traditional dresses 'still favourite'

The majority of women opt for the traditional look when choosing their wedding dress, it has been claimed.

Speaking to Forbes magazine, Kathleen Beckett of personal shopping service Beckett's Black Book explained that at the end of the day, every bride wants to look pretty.

"People have come to me wanting something unique and the minute they try on a traditional gown, that's it," she explained. "Feeling like a princess really captures a lot of fantasies of what it means to be a bride."

Forbes recommended that women searching for their dream wedding dress look for "timeless elegance, quality and a bit of individuality".

It added that brides-to-be who are planning a garden or informal wedding may want to try a knee-length dress as these are increasing in popularity.

Ladies will try on an average of 17 dresses in three different bridal shops before finally making a purchase, according to member discount program DealMax.ADNFCR-1185-ID-18632018-ADNFCR
