Venue

Choosing your venue style

If you're not sure on the style of venue you want, look for one with a variety of styles under one roof. Using a venue that can incorporate traditional grandeur, contemporary style and individuality will not only give you a choice of spaces but also delight and interest your guests as they move from ceremony to reception without moving venues!

Creating the perfect setting

We strongly recommend that wedding couples bring along their photographer to our venue before the big day. Venues, such as castles, have many beautiful settings for some fantastic photography, so we advise that you have an idea of what shots you want to be taken on the day. This takes the pressure off on the day and also reduces the thinking time so as you can enjoy more time with family and friends.

Compile a guest list

You don't need to have the names finalised but it does make sense to work out exactly how many friends and family you want to invite. The size of your guest list has a huge impact on where you can marry. If you've set your heart on tying the knot in the local village church near your parents' home but it only holds 50 you're going to have a rethink if a rough totting up of guests is running at 150. Likewise your choice of reception venue and the type of function you have will be determined by the number of guests - a sit-down do at your favourite hotel might be perfect for 80 but a cocktails-and-canapés party would accommodate 120.
