Bridal Jewellery Trends for 2020

This year the trend for bridal jewellery encompasses two classic gemstones: diamonds and pearls. Jewellery adorned with pearls and diamonds is chic and glamorous, but above all romantic and timeless. Pearls and diamonds may be incorporated into modern or classic designs, but always retain an air of timeless glamour and beauty.

The diamond has long been considered a symbol of purity and protection, protecting the wearer from harmful energies and anxieties that hinder action and clarity of thought. Diamonds are also symbolic of eternal love and understanding, making them the perfect stone for use in engagement and wedding jewellery. They also represent luxury and power – perfect for a glamorous bride.

Pearls have been appreciated across all cultures for thousands of years for their unique lustre and soft colour. Pearls occur naturally in a range of colours, from classic white to purple, pink, and even black. The pearl is considered to be soft, tender, and feminine, and is attributed virtues of healing and fertility. It is said that pearls bring peace and wellbeing to their wearer; perhaps this is why they are so favoured by many brides on their wedding day.

For rings, the trend of the moment is the square diamond. This year, square stones are having their time in the sun; a classic shape yet with modern angularity, a square diamond in a solitaire setting is a chic alternative to the classic round diamond engagement ring. Choosing a diamond cut in this shape will ensure that your fiancée’s ring will be the envy of all for years to come!

For earrings, this year’s trends favour the ostentatious, with long, chandelier-style earrings fashioned from intricate metalwork and dripping in gemstones that are sure to catch the eye. Necklaces and bracelets are more discreet, with elegant single stone pendants and matching bracelets with a few small gemstones to add a little glamour to the wrists.

One of the key trends in recent years has been personalized and customized bridal jewellery, and this shows no signs of stopping in 2020. You don’t want to give your bride-to-be the same jewellery as all her friends! She deserves of course to have unique jewels, in her image – perhaps incorporating a favourite colour, a birthstone, or a family heirloom.
