Choose Your Wedding Scent

Planning a wedding is full of making tough choices and many a compromise (sure, future mother-in-law you can totes invite your next-door neighbour to our intimate ceremony *smiles through the pain*). So, let us make one of those all-important decisions a little bit easier. Say ‘I do’ to your wedding day perfume by following our top three expert tips.

Stay true to your signature

There’s nothing ‘normal’ about a wedding day. It’s not like come Monday morning you’re going to throw on that big white dress, call up the entire glam squad and have a camera crew capture the first bite out of your breakfast bagel (#candid). Because it’s so different to the everyday, it’s easy to avoid ordinary options in favour of all-things extra. Yes, it’s not a day that should be treated like any other, but there’s also no reason to completely abandon your usual style and the same goes for when it comes to choosing a fragrance.

So, if your go-to scent is always a deliciously sweet gourmand then there’s no need to go for a heady oriental just because your celeb icon does. Your scent should be familiar, to calm those nerves, and be as original as you are. Stay true to your signature and it will add a comforting finishing touch to your wedding look.

Choose Eau de Parfum over Eau de Toilette

Let’s run through the basics. There’s a big difference between an eau de toilette (EDT) and eau de parfum (EDP). The most notable difference is, how long the scent will last on the skin. EDPs feature a higher concentration of fragrance oils than the EDT, as the latter is typically designed to be light and fresh. And just to confuse us even more, most fragrances are available in both EDT and EDP.

If you want your spritz to take you from morning jitters to first dance fabulousness, then surely you’ll prefer to go for a longer-lasting fragrance – so always go for the EDP! It can also minimise the need for top-ups on the big day.

Top tip:

The most highly concentrated perfume to go for is a pure parfum, but these are not available for most scents and will typically be presented in a small, dab-on bottle.

Test ‘til your heart’s content

Fragrances can often smell different on different skin types, so to help narrow down the choices of wedding scent always test it out on your skin first. Pop into any TPS store and our advisors will be happy to help you sample a spritz directly on your skin so you can try before you commit.
