Teresa Weller, Director of The Bridal Hair Artists, Reveals Her Winter Wedding Hair Trends For 2022/2023

,

I’m a huge fan of all things bride and beautiful and keep a close eye on the bridal runways to take inspiration for my seasonal bridal shoots. Here are my AW22/23 favourites:

I Wanna Be Adorned

i-wanna-be-adorned

The style: Adorned chignons

As seen at: Monique Lhuillier and Marchesa Couture Bridal Fall 2022

Get the look: The chic chignon trend is going nowhere this forthcoming wedding season, and with good reason: it’s a wearable look that can be made to look edgy, romantic or sexy, depending on your vibe as a bride. For a 50s take, opt for an Audrey Hepburn-inspired bouffant chignon, as pictured here in my Adore collection. For the perfect photo finish, we added hair clips embellished with clay flowers from thebobbypin.co.uk.

Dress to impress: Off-the-shoulder, as seen at Monique Lhuillier. This look comes to life with a neat neckline and bare skin, to show off the detail in the hairstyle.

Wave Machine

The style: Undone waves

As seen at: Oscar de la Renta, Lela Rose and Madeline Gardner Signature Bridal Fall 22

Get the look: Waves are the perfect new season wedding style, offering a  host of styling options to suit your vision. Worn long and loose, or swept to one side, they can be as relaxed or chic as your heart desires. For this look, from my Adore collection, I side parted the hair after waving, creating height at the crown, before sweeping into a side pony. Hair was adorned using freshwater pearl accessories from thebobbypin.co.uk.

Dress to impress: elegant scoop necklines, as seen at Ellie Saab, are the perfect stylish accompaniment to red carpet waves.

A Bit Of A Do!

a-bit-of-a-do

The style: Dishevelled ‘I Do’ up-do

As seen at: Ellie Saab and Celia Kritharioti

Get the look: This season, it’s all about taking the traditional bridal up-do and making it fresh and slightly more undone. A thoroughly modern way to wear wedding hair, this look is effortlessly elegant and perfect for brides with stand-out dresses who want a look to complement, rather than detract. This look can be embellished with crystal hair accessories, pins or grips for added ‘vow wow’.

Dress to impress: White Tuxedos, or Corset-style dresses, as seen at Galia Lahav this season are the perfect partner.

Here Comes The Braid

here-comes-the-braid

The style: Bridal Braids

As seen at: Marchesa

Get the look: The bridal braid is an elegant, wearable style that can be worn in myriad ways. Plaits and braids are perfect if you want to steer away from a traditional up-do, and for a more tousled finish, tendrils can be picked out from the sides for an ethereal vibe, as pictured in my Adore collection. A floral headband, such as these laser-cut flowers from thebobbypin.co.uk, adds a delightful detail and is a modern take on a traditional wedding tiara.

Dress to impress: Voluminous ruffles, as seen at Marchesa, are the perfect stand-out style.
