Tips for deciding on the perfect wedding suit

,

Suited Formal Hire make the suit buying/hiring process super easy but there are a few things you need to think about to help you get an idea in your head before shopping. Should the groom dress the same as the groomsmen? Are you having a summer/winter wedding? What colours would work with your wedding? What is the venue like? Does the groom have a preference on fabric? Do you need a shop that offers matching children’s suits? Here are some tips to think about before shopping.

1. Choose a Colour Scheme:

If the groom and his groomsmen are going to dress the same, choose a colour scheme that complements the wedding theme. Consider the venue, flowers, and overall style of the wedding when choosing colours. You will more than likely already have your bridesmaid colour in mind, why not tie this colour into the suit accessories.

2. Choose Complementary Outfits:

The outfits worn by the groom and his groomsmen should complement each other. They don’t have to be identical, but they should look like they belong together. For example, if the groom decides to wear green, we wouldn’t recommend putting the groomsmen in blue. Think about keeping the fabrics the same. Suited have had various suit colours put together such as green & brown, blue & grey, green & beige, there are so many options!

3. Consider the Season:

The season is another important factor to consider when choosing outfits. Lighter fabrics and colours may be more appropriate for a summer wedding, while darker colours and heavier fabrics may be better for a winter wedding. We have the perfect stone coloured suit, HM5 by Marc Darcy Menswear, which looks amazing in the summer but also a fantastic option for autumn/winter would be Eton by Marc Darcy Menswear which pulls in the autumnal and wintery colours like burgundy & orange.

4. Accessorize:

Accessories can help to differentiate the groom’s outfit from that of his groomsmen. Consider adding a different coloured tie or pocket square to the groom’s outfit to set him apart. Lots of our grooms have a different coloured waistcoat to make then stand out from the rest. We have so many options in store and mix & matching is one of our favourite things, we love hearing new ideas from brides and grooms.

5. Consider Fit:

Ensure that all outfits fit well and are comfortable for everyone. A poorly fitting outfit can make even the most expensive suit look cheap. Luckily, Suited’s suits are all slim fitting which minimizes tailoring if you are looking to purchase. If you are hiring, we will choose the size which is best fitting for you and alter the leg lengths to your preference.

6. Plan Ahead:

Start planning outfits well in advance of the wedding day. This will give everyone plenty of time to shop for and order their attire, make any necessary alterations, and ensure that everything is ready to go on the big day. We recommend choosing your suits around 8-12 months before the wedding.

With careful planning and attention to detail, a coordinated and stylish wedding party is within reach. Suited Formal Hire is here to help you find the perfect suit for your special day and we cannot wait to be a part of your journey to the aisle!
